Our client  is one of the most profitable engineering companies worldwide and a leading supplier of industrial process and speciality gases. The products and services can be found in nearly every industry, in more than 100 countries.

The company’s Engineering and Global Business Unit Tonnage (GBUT) have created Global Market Development (GMD) in order to strengthen the company as a whole. This new organization will allow to present one face to the customer by fostering closer collaboration between the Engineering and Gas divisions. The aim is to maximize knowledge of markets, customers and project opportunities on a global scale.

Thus the market segment Chemicals & Petrochemicals within the GMD is looking for a Lead Global Market Sector – Chemical Industry to foster and build a strong relationship with the customers. S/he needs to understand the viability of our customers’ projects, identifies op-portunities before the competition and focuses resources on real projects whilst identifying opportunities for a specific company solution.


Main Tasks
  • Provide insight and guidance into the structure and dynamics of the chemical industry
  • Support the development of the Global Sector Strategy including Strategy Definition & Com-munication
  • Coordination of the Regional Market Sector Peer Teams
  • Identification, prioritisation, positioning and development of opportunities including demand-side value propositions and early phase options in cooperation with the required GMD-Teams.
  • Development of an opportunity pipeline that will deliver the above mentioned investment and sales targets for GBUT and the Engineering Division.
  • For the chemical market Sector support the development of the Global GBU Tonnage / Engi-neering Strategy, including:
    - Monitor and interpret global industry activities and global market trends.
    - Identify & evaluate emerging industry technologies and geographies that will impact the Gases business.
    - Validate Strategy through industry/customer networks and internal stakeholders.
    - Develop information, analysis and insight on competitor activities.
    - Identify priority clusters and lead cluster studies
  • Lead the Sector Peer Team activity in the identification and positioning of project opportunities globally in line with the Tonnage/ Engineering Strategy including the development and presentation of the Opportunity Assessment Paper
  • Represent the company at appropriate Trade fairs, conferences to publicise the Group capa-bilities

 Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years experience, relevant to the Chemical Industry
  • Degree in science/engineering (to fit sector), advanced degree or MBA preferred
  • Considerable experience in a multi-cultural business environment
  • Demonstrable Business Development / Sales experience
  • Project management and execution experience desirable
  • Technology expertise in Chemical Industry / Engineering Markets
  • Proven track record of finding customers and opportunities, planning their development with profitable results
  • Ability to motivate/align personnel into a common strategic direction and superior perfor-mance across a global team and diverse cultures
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and improve existing process/programs
  • English business fluent > any additional language is an asset
  • Intensive global presence is vital
